The Government of Pakistan has approved a draft agreement that allows the government to provide troops to ensure the security of the FIFA World Cup, which will be held in Qatar in November. Pakistani Information Minister Marium Aurangzeb said that the Cabinet of Ministers approved a draft agreement on the deployment of troops to Qatar in the period from November 21 to December 18., apart from the General Directorate of Interdepartmental Intelligence (ISI), there were no objections to it, the Express Tribune newspaper reported.

"The regulation consists of the conditions for the deployment of troops to ensure security during the 2022 FIFA World Cup.  The agreement is aimed at defining the obligations of both sides, the exact specialization and number of security personnel aimed at using Pakistan to participate in security and protection operations," the statement said:

The government received approval shortly before the first visit of Shahbaz Sharif to Qatar at the invitation of the Emir of Qatar, Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani, reports TASS. The two sides will discuss the full range of bilateral relations, paying special attention to the development of cooperation related to energy, deepening trade and investment ties, as well as exploring broader employment opportunities for Pakistanis in Qatar, the Prime Minister's office said:

The Prime Minister will also visit the 974 Stadium in Doha, where he will be informed about the large-scale preparatory work of the Government of Qatar for the World Cup. In July, Turkey's Interior Minister Soylu said the country would send 3,250 security personnel to Qatar for the World Cup, and Ankara also trained Qatari security personnel before the competition. Earlier this year, NATO revealed that it was going to provide additional security throughout the event.

"Within the framework of cooperation between Qatar and NATO, the North Atlantic Alliance will provide leadership to the security components of the World Cup," the statement said:

"The assistance will include training in protection against threats posed by chemical, biological, radiological, and nuclear (CBRN) materials.  This may even include training in protecting very important people (VIPs) and countering threats posed by improvised explosive devices,"
