The current World Cup champions are France.

Due to the excessive heat of the Qatar Summer, this World Cup can be held from late November to mid-December, making it the first that is no longer held in May, June, or July. It will be played in a discounted time frame of the 28-day round.

Allegations of corruption were made in relation to the way Qatar obtained the right to host the event. An internal investigation and a FIFA report exonerated Qatar of any wrongdoing, however, Chief Investigator Michael J. Garcia has described FIFA's track record in his investigation as " materially incomplete and flawed. on 27 May 2015, Swiss federal prosecutors opened an investigation into corruption and money laundering associated with the awarding of the 2018 and 2022 World Cups. on 6 August 2018, Former FIFA president Sepp Blatter claimed that Qatar had used "covert operations", suggesting that the bidding committee had cheated to win the host Rights.

In addition, Qatar has faced strong complaints about the treatment of affected workers abroad in preparation for the World Cup, and Amnesty International has referred to "forced labor" and stated that the masses or many migrant employees have died due to human rights abuses and careless and inhumane work situations, despite employee welfare requirements that were drafted in 2014.

Host selection

The bidding procedure to host the 2018 and 2022 FIFA World Cups began in January 2009, and national institutions had until 2 February 2009 to verify their fans. initially, 11 bids were made for the 2018 FIFA World Cup, but Mexico later withdrew from the proceedings,  and Indonesia's bid became rejected by FIFA in February 2010 after the Indonesian Football Association failed to submit a letter of guarantee from the Indonesian government to assist the bid. Indonesian officials had no longer mastered a bid for the 2026 FIFA World Cup until Qatar took the 2022 Cup. During the bidding technique, all non-UEFA international locations regularly withdrew their 2018 bids, which ensures that a UEFA state can host the 2018 Cup and thus makes UEFA international locations ineligible for the 2022 bid.

In the quit, there have been five bids for the 2022 FIFA World Cup: Australia, Japan, Qatar, South Korea, and the United States. The twenty members of the FIFA Executive Committee met in Zurich on 2 December 2010 to vote to choose the hosts of each tournament. two FIFA governing committee participants were suspended prior to the vote for corruption allegations in connection with their votes. the selection to host the 2022 World Cup in Qatar, which was described as an "excessive operational possibility",  generated criticism from media commentators. he has been criticized by many for being part of the FIFA corruption scandals.

Venue

The first 5 proposed venues for the World Cup had been announced in early March 2010. The country aims for stadiums to reflect the historical and cultural aspects of Qatar, and each stadium aims to understand 4 priorities: "legacy", comfort, accessibility, and sustainability. Qatar intends to build stadiums with the best sustainability and environmental standards. Stadiums will be prepared with cooling structures that are environmentally friendly overcoming the harsh environmental nature of the country and the goal of reducing temperatures within the stadium up to twenty °C (36 °F), however, it is not always known whether this will undoubtedly work within outdoor stadiums. Its apparent intention is to build zero-waste stadiums using environmentally friendly materials, innocent devices, and ecologically sustainable solutions through the implementation of renewable energy and Coffee Solutions; and the higher grades of the stadiums will be dismantled after the World Cup and donated to nations with a much less evolved sports activity infrastructure. Qatar aspires to comply with the Global Sustainability Assessment System (GSAS) and obtain a license for all World Cup stadiums. The 5 Stadium tasks launched have been designed by the German architect Albert Speer & Partners. Al Bayt Stadium could be the simplest Indoor Stadium of the 8 used.

A document published on December 9, 2010, quoted FIFA president Sepp Blatter as stating that different countries should host some costumes at some point in the World Cup. However, no nation was mentioned in the report. Blatter introduced that any such election must be taken by Qatar first, after which it was approved by the FIFA governing committee. Prince Ali bin Al Hussein of Jordan told The Australian Associated Press that preserving the games in Bahrain, the United Arab Emirates and probably Saudi Arabia would help understand the locals throughout the match.

According to a record released in April 2013 through the use of Merrill Lynch, The Investment Banking Department of Bank of America, organizers in Qatar have asked FIFA to approve a smaller variety of stadiums due to the development of fees. Bloomberg.Com stated that Qatar needs to reduce the number of places to eight or nine of the twelve deliberated at the beginning.

Although as of April 2017, FIFA had to finalize the number of stadiums Qatar should have ready in 5 years, the Supreme Committee on Qatar handover and legacy stated that it expected there to be 8.

In January 2019, Infantino said FIFA began exploring the possibility of obtaining host suits at neighboring international locations for the duration of the event, as a way to reduce political tensions.
