FIFA World Cup 2022 Qualification The qualifying technique for the 2022 FIFA World Cup is a series of tournaments organized by using the six FIFA Confederations to determine 31 of the 32 teams on track to play in the 2022 FIFA World Cup, with Qatar mechanically qualifying as the host. The 210 FIFA member associations that close can participate in the standings. The qualifiers opened in June 2019 with Mongolian player Norjmoogiin Tsedenbal scoring the first qualifying goal on 6 June. Unlike previous tournaments, it was agreed that there cannot be a general preliminary draw, with several draws to be held one at a time due to the extraordinary deadlines used by each confederation.
