Comparisons to Lionel Messi

Both players have scored in at least two UEFA Champions League finals and have regularly broken the 50-goal barrier in a single season. Sports journalists and pundits often weigh the individual merits of both players, trying to argue who they consider the best player in current football or in the history of this sport. This has been compared to the rivalry of sporting events, such as the Muhammad Ali-Joe Frazier rivalry in boxing, the Borg-McEnroe rivalry in tennis, and the Ayrton Senna–Alain Prost rivalry in Formula 1 auto racing.
Some commentators choose to analyze the different physiques and gambling 2,  while part of the conversation revolves around the contrasting personalities of the 2 players: Ronaldo is sometimes portrayed as a smug and theatrical braggart, while Messi is portrayed as a shy, unassuming man.

Real Madrid demanded – and quickly received – a full apology, and the Portuguese issued his own response with a mocking salute after scoring a penalty against Sevilla after Blatter identified him as a" commander " on the pitch. In August 2019, Ronaldo and Messi were interviewed, even as they sat next to each other before the announcement of the UEFA Men's Player of the Year, and Ronaldo noted: "Of course, we have an amazing relationship. We didn't have dinner together, but, but I want to in the future. I was driving him, and he was pushing me, too. So it will definitely be part of the history of football.
